Robert V. Colangelo, author, scientist and entrepreneur has over 25 years of experience in the environment business. Colangelo recognizes that to make global environmental change, initiatives require market based economic drivers to be sustainable and cannot be pushed solely by legislation and regulatory enforcement actions. Using this principal, Colangelo created several organizations that were focused on sustainable development: Environomics Communications, Inc., Brownfield Development, LLC and National Brownfield Association, a non-profit organization. He also founded Environmental Planning Group, which provided strategic and business consulting to environmental technology firms seeking venture capital and project finance.
Robert Colangelo is a pioneer in the brownfield industry, the author of three books and numerous publications on the subject. Colangelo also co-developed the Rasher-Colangelo formula for estimating value at environmentally impaired properties, has consulted to the National Round Table on the Economy and Environment, (established by Canada’s Prime Minister and responsible for drafting Canada’s Brownfield Strategy), testified numerous times to congress in support of sustainable development legislation and provides expert witness support on the subject of environmentally impaired property valuation. He has traveled extensively throughout Russia, the Former Soviet Union and Europe working on project finance, and the commercialization of environmental technologies. He has appeared on TV (NBC, WFLD) and radio programs (NPR), been quoted in national and local newspapers (Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and Chicago Tribune) and has made many presentations on the subject of sustainability. He holds a BS and MS in Earth Science from Northeastern Illinois University.
